Sprint Introduces “Any Mobile, Anytime”

Not going to go crazy on this, but it makes me happy. PreCentral.net was the first in my feed reader to show up with a confirmation, gleaned from Sprint’s web site, of their new Any Mobile, Anytime feature.
Users with this feature, which is included in all Everything Data plans, can call any mobile phone, any time of the day or night, free of charge, as long as they’re using Sprint’s network and not their handset’s roaming capability. Since I have Everything Data 450, my Any Mobile, Anytime “upgrade” will kick in automatically at the start of the next billing cycle.
I only used 214 anytime minutes during the last billing cycle, and part of that is because I know that if I’m not calling immediate family, the people I’m calling may not be on Sprint, and I have a (clearly) irrational fear of going over my 450 anytime minutes. That fear is now obsolete.
So, if the lure of nights and weekends that start 2 hours earlier than AT&T’s, an included and fully-supported Mutimedia Messaging (MMS) functionality (which the iPhone only got, um, yesterday), and the cute new Palm Pixi haven’t convinced you to look at Sprint and webOS yet, Any Mobile, Anytime should be a pretty tempting addition to that nexus of awesome.

I dont know if WebOS is a reason to take a look at Sprint.
Sprint still has a lot of issues, and that keeps people away, but Sprint also has some great points. Lets examine them shall we?
Sprint Pros:
Fastest Most Stable 3G Network of Major 4 Carriers (in most areas)
Bundled Packages that include all that people need (at $10-50 less then other carriers)
Unlimited Nights and Weekends at 7PM (standard), with options for 6PM (for small fee)
Unlimited ANY MOBILE minutes for ANY CARRIER
Sprint Cons:
Customer Service inept to fix any billing issue (they are getting better slowly)
No credit for bundled packages when a feature is lacking or not available on your specific phone
Billing errors of monthly rate plan tax that varies every month by $0.05 to $4.00 when rate stays same.
Just a few reasons that people still select other carriers. I had T-Mobile for 5 years, and kept the same options on my plan, my taxes never fluctuated (and I never used extra minutes). With Sprint it seems the taxes are always jumping all over.

Thanks for the comment. Those are alll good points. webos has the potential to become sprint’s most robust offering but without significant network upgrades, people will simply use webos devices on more powerful networks. i think a verizon exec was quoted this week as confirming a january 2010 rollout of the pre on verizon. sprint will probably need more than the any mobile plan to compete with verizon’s reputation for solid coverage.
